What the What!??

This past weekend I reached a big milestone with my running, though with it came some disappointment. I may be behind the times but I finally ran 3 miles without having to walk!!! Yay me! The disappointing part was that there was little to no improvement from my 3 mile walk/jog time. :( How can this be? I have improved without improving? So how do I get faster?

I was telling my tale of joy and sorrow to some of the more experienced runners at work and they gave me some advice. Lucky for you, I am going to share... ;)

1- Cross train! Biking and swimming were mentioned as two excellent cross training exercises.
2- Interval training: Sprint, recover, sprint, recover... you get the idea.
3- Back to Back: In your running routine try to run at least two days back to back. One short run then one long run. In your shorter runs try working on your speed.

There you have it! I know I am going to incorporate these 3 things into my running routine. I know that both speed and distance will both come with more hard work and training. I just need to keep working at it and keep a positive attitude!

I am looking forward to our upcoming 5k! Keep up the good work everyone!

Please tell me I'm not alone!

Okay ladies, now that the Halloween weekend is over I need to get my butt back in gear! I'll be honest, I haven't been committing to my training schedule like I should be... or at all :( Now don't get me wrong, I am still running at my 5k pace but I feel like with the weather changing and the holidays just around the corner I have a lot of work to do. Are any of you feeling the same way? I just logged on to check the weather for this week and I guess I don't have any excuses! If you see me around the office be sure to ask me how my routine is going, it might help if I have ya'll reminding me!
